Do you love roller derby and want to get more involved? Roller derby officiating could be right for you! Being a skating referee or a Non-Skating Official (NSO) is a great way to get to know the game, become involved in the sport, and meet some great new friends! No experience required! What we do require is an active interest in roller derby and a positive attitude.
Officiating can be a great stepping stone to becoming an actual derby skater yourself. Tryouts to become a skater happen only once a year (typically September) but the officials recruit year-round. Join us while you wait for tryouts to roll around and you will already have a HUGE step up.
We will help you every step of the way from learning rules, to skating skills, to making the right calls.
Learning is completely at your own pace. Officials for the SCRD can be involved as little or as much as they like.
