SCDD Home Opener – Double Win and Sold Out Crowd!
By McShovin on March 21st, 2010Posted In: B-Unit,Bouts,Events,News,Steel Hurtin'
The Steel City Derby Demons home opener last night at Romp n Roll in Glenshaw was one of our most successful bouts yet! Our girls played to a sold-out cheering crowd as they rolled to victory.
In the first game of the night, the B-Unit were neck-and -neck with the Rideau Valley Vixens (Ottowa, CA). Half way through the period the B-Unit grabbed some extra points and pulled toward the lead which they were able to maintain until the final whistle of the game. Final score: 95-67
In the second game, The Steel Hurtin’ played the girls of the Maine Roller Derby. Superb blocking and wicked fast jamming by The Hurtin’ started the first jam off with a score of 22 to zero. The Maine girls were never able to recover the deficit, although they fought to the very last jam. Final score: 182-58
Thanks to all of the fans who came out! We would love to know what you thought of our new venue– or if you want to leave us your opinion about the games in general– feel free to comment here.
